The Beginning of the Ākarana Falcons

The Ākarana Falcons were established in 2010 as part of a nationwide restructuring of New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) to enhance the development and representation of the sport across the country. As one of the seven zonal bodies, Ākarana represents the central, western, and North Shore suburbs of Auckland, with a mission to promote, foster, and grow rugby league from grassroots to national levels.

Since its inception, the Falcons have become a powerhouse in New Zealand rugby league, consistently dominating the NZRL National Competition. Notably, securing the 2022 National 20s Championship, defeating the South Island 34–5 in a commanding performance.

The Falcons' commitment to excellence is reflected not only in our on-field successes but also in our dedication to community engagement and development, ensuring a sustainable and inclusive rugby league environment for all.
