History The Beginning of the Ākarana Falcons The Ākarana Falcons were established in 2010 as part of a nationwide restructuring of New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) to enhance the development and representation of the sport across the country. As one of the seven zonal bodies, Ākarana represents the central, western, and North Shore suburbs of Auckland, with a mission to promote, foster, and grow rugby league from grassroots to national levels. Since its inception, the Falcons have become a powerhouse in New Zealand rugby league, consistently dominating the NZRL National Competition.
